Mid-Ohio – Race Report
Velox Motorsport // Jerry Vento started the race at Mid-Ohio for the sixth round of the Tequila Patron American Lemans series. Early in the race a gratuitous hard hit to the #88 by an LMPC Class car caused minimal damage and Jerry was able to get back in the game quickly and regain focus.
At the 50 minute mark of the race Velox pitted for a driver change and was able to take advantage of a full course caution. The pit-crew was super-fast and very well organized, and with amazing precision the team was able to perform a complete driver, fuel and tire change in record setting time. A big thanks to our crew for a superb effort.
Shane Lewis was quick to adjust to track conditions, a testament to a veteran drivers ability to adapt and focus on the task at hand, but a GT class car decided to put a stint in his progress with a minor contact. The Velox crew was amazing and they gave us an incredible car that was running with flawless intensity. The field was very tight throughout the entire race and the car spun just before the front straight. Shane's comment summed-up the race. When asked (What Happened) , his radio response was:
" I just asked the car to do something it couldn't do"
That friends... summarized race day at Mid-Ohio. We could not catch a break. With a fifth place finish at Mid-Ohio now behind us, we can focus on Road America, it's a very short break and the team is already on the way. Once on site the task of precision tuning the car and getting the damage repaired will begin and the crew will have the car race ready for what will hopefully be a podium finish at Elkhart Lake.
