Palm Beach Testing
March 29th / 2009
The Velox motorsport team spent the day at Palm Beach International Raceway conducting yet again another successful test. The day was spent adjusting the chassis on the 2 mile road course for the upcoming Utah Grand Prix in mid May. We've spent most of the day working with our shock package in an effort to adjust the car for Utah. " At Sebring we had the car dialed in to a much rougher and bumpy surface. The same setup just will not work.
We need to concentrate on keeping the tires from graining. We have to be very sensitive to how much understeer we have because we can easily cook the front tires in a few laps. " said the team manager. " The surface in Utah is much the same as Palm Beach. We are close but we need to get back to the throttle a little sooner." commented Shane Lewis Velox Motorsport driving coach.
As the day continued the team was able to get their times down respectively . Team driver Gerry Vento commented " we're in good shape, the car has a push too it but were working in the right direction. The temperature here is continuing to climb and it is quite warm, consistent results are going to be hard to achieve."
The team ended the test satisfied. " We grained the left front badly in the beginning, by the end of the day we found a combination that works well, however we have a little more work to do before Utah".
Velox Motorsport is 30 minutes away from Palm Beach International. The team uses the facility often to test the Porsche and Ferrari. The surface and corner configuration resembles that of Miller Motorsport Park in Utah. If your ever around, stop by, you might just see them there.
